New Minimum Wage Rates Effective July 1

Sunday, July 01, 2019

July 1 is a big day this year! In addition to San Francisco’s Consideration of Salary History Ordinance going into effect today, the minimum wage in several California cities and towns is increasing as well.

Northern California cities with increases as of July 1 include:

  • Belmont: $12.50/hour for all businesses.
  • Emeryville: $15.69/hour for businesses with 56 or more employees or $15/hour for those with 55 or fewer employees.
  • Milpitas: $13.50/hour for all businesses
  • San Francisco: $15/hour for all businesses
  • San Leandro: $13/hour for all businesses

In Southern California, cities with increases as of July 1 include:

  • City of Los Angeles:  $13.25/hour for employers with 26 or more employees or $12/hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees.
  • County of Los Angeles: $13.25/hour for employers with 26 or more employees or $12/hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees. (This applies only to unincorporated areas.)
  • Malibu: $13.25/hour for employers with 26 or more employees or $12/hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees.
  • Pasadena: $13.25/hour for employers with 26 or more employees or $12/hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees.
  • Santa Monica: $13.25/hour for employers with 26 or more employees or $12/hour for employers with 25 or fewer employees.

Each ordinance is a bit different based on its locale, and though we strive to be as accurate as possible, you should check with your local jurisdiction for all the applicable details of the minimum wage in your city or county.
